Kinsale
Cork is Ireland's largest county and Kinsale is the Gourmet Capital of Ireland.

Narrow streets wind through this historic town which dates back many centuries. Kinsale is most famous for the Battle of Kinsale in 1601 when the Irish fought the Spanish Armada. Battle sites are well signposted around the town for military buffs

Nearby to Kinsale is the famous Charles Fort, Ireland's best preserved star fort. While this was a military garrison, it was also a home. Local legend surrounds the White Lady, who was a young woman made widow on her wedding day. In her grief she threw herself into the sea below the fort while still in her wedding dress!

For those who prefer culinary excitement, Kinsale boasts some of Ireland's most highly rated estaurants and pubs. Many are members of the Good Food Circle of Kinsale. Because Kinsale is a coastal town there is a plethora of seafood to be found, as well as traditional Irish and continental fare.

Stop into some of these popular spots for a hot meal and cold drink:

The 1601 Pub
Blue Haven Restaurant and Pub
Jim Edwards Restaurant and Pub
The Mad Monk Restaurant and Pub
The White House Restaurant and Pub
And many many more...

Kinsale boasts dozens of specialty shops, galleries, museums, and cafes too. Wander the winding streets to find what treasures are hidden in this quaint coastal town. If you think you might fancy moving to Ireland there are many estate agents with houses available in their windows.
